Chapter 305: I’m Sorry
A burst of angry, exasperated cursing reached her ears.
Yan Xiaosi’s expression changed.
Having known Long Yu for so long, she had never seen him so furious and exasperated.
She was quite worried about her upcoming situation.
Brushing off the grass leaves clinging to her body, she quickly ran toward the sound to find Long Yu.
“Long Yu, Your Highness the War King, I’m here, I’m here.”
Long Yu saw a small figure waving at him from afar, and the heavy stone pressing on his heart finally dropped.
The anger in his heart also vanished completely the moment he saw the little one.
Yan Xiaosi had harvested a pile of medicinal materials and was in a good mood. Like a happy little bird, she spread her wings and flew toward him.
“You’re so anxious. I’m back now.”
Long Yu opened his long arms and directly embraced the little one.
“Where did you go?”
Yan Xiaosi felt somewhat suffocated as his arms pressed against her chest.
“Loosen your arms a bit. I can barely breathe.”
Long Yu loosened his grip somewhat but didn’t let her go.
Yan Xiaosi was much shorter than him, her face buried in his chest, feeling sweet inside.
“After I finished… that, I was going to find you, but this forest all looks the same everywhere. I got lost. I searched everywhere but couldn’t find you, Long Yu.”
She raised her face, looking at Long Yu with an aggrieved expression.
This was a solution she had thought of on the spur of the moment. Though she had lied to Long Yu again, it was better than being severely punished by this man.
Long Yu believed her completely and looked at her with heartache.
Fourth Sisters Peak’s forest was dense and deep. First-time visitors could easily get lost inside. It was normal for Yan Xiaosi to get lost on her first visit here.
Yan Xiaosi blinked, making her performance more convincing.
“Long Yu, thankfully you came to find me.”
Seeing her looking so wronged, Long Yu felt somewhat guilty.
“I’m sorry.”
Yan Xiaosi was shocked into silence.
As a commoner, hearing these three words from the mouth of the mighty Great Chu War King—how could she not be shocked? Besides shock, she also felt like she had done something unconscionable.
“You don’t need to say sorry to me. I was just stupid and couldn’t find the way back. It’s not your fault, really.”
Long Yu felt warm inside and bent down to give her another princess carry.
While carrying her back, he asked with concern, “Does your stomach still hurt?”
When no one else was around, Yan Xiaosi was happy to let him carry her.
She had feelings for this man, and being held by him made her very happy.
“The stomach pain was from holding in that… business. Once I let it out, it stopped hurting. Speaking of which, when you were searching for me everywhere just now, did you step on the pile I left behind?”
Long Yu’s expression darkened.
He looked at the little one in his arms who had a mischievous expression on her face, feeling quite puzzled.
How could he, the mighty Great Chu war god and the current emperor’s uncle, have fallen for such a crude man, fallen so deeply that he would even cut his sleeves for this man?
“No.”
“Hahahahaha.”
Yan Xiaosi laughed heartily in his arms, her body shaking with laughter.
“Long Yu, I’ve discovered that sometimes you’re really too cute.”
Long Yu quickly held her tighter, “Don’t move around carelessly. Be careful not to fall.”
That evening, a master and servant appeared at Jiren Hall in Daxing Town.
Without Bai Mingyue treating patients at Jiren Hall, the business had plummeted. Even on market day, the number of patients queuing in front of Jiren Hall was less than half of what it used to be.
The shopkeeper of Jiren Hall, Bai Jingye, looked at the increasingly dismal business with a worried expression.
He had heard that Bai Mingyue had recently set up a stall in front of Yu Family Private Kitchen to treat patients. With Bai Mingyue’s excellent reputation, patients were all drawn there. After seeing the doctor, they could conveniently eat at Yu Family Private Kitchen. If this continued, Jiren Hall would eventually have to close down.
Thinking that it was Bai Mingyue who had sabotaged him, Bai Jingye secretly gritted his teeth and cursed inwardly: “That Bai Mingyue! I politely invited him back and was even willing to raise his salary. Fine if he didn’t want to return, but he actually went to set up a stall in front of Yu Family Private Kitchen to steal Jiren Hall’s business.”
While he was fuming, a man dressed in black like a house servant appeared before him.
Though this man was dressed as a servant, his bearing was not to be underestimated.
“Sir, are you here to see a doctor?”
The black-clothed man had a cold expression and stuffed a silver ingot into Bai Jingye’s hand, saying, “It’s not me who needs treatment. My master is ill. He’s in the carriage.”
Seeing this person’s generous manner, Bai Jingye didn’t dare offend him and responded cautiously.
Indeed, there was a carriage parked in front of Jiren Hall—low-key in appearance but actually luxurious. He smiled and said, “It’s rather noisy outside. Please ask your master to come down and come inside.”
“Thank you, shopkeeper.”
The black-clothed man cupped his hands toward Bai Jingye, then returned to the carriage and spoke a few words through the curtain.
Soon, a man wearing a black cloak descended from the carriage.
The wide black cloak concealed the man’s face, making it impossible to see his features clearly. Only intermittent coughing could be heard from him.
Bai Jingye invited the master and servant into the tea room inside Jiren Hall.
The cloaked man sat there, showing no intention of removing his cloak.
Bai Jingye couldn’t see his face clearly but felt an oppressive aura, so he didn’t dare ask too many questions. He only said, “Please wait a moment, both of you. I’ll call a doctor in right away.”
“Much obliged.”
The man in black nodded, watching him leave.
Soon, Bai Jingye brought in Jiren Hall’s most skilled doctor and instructed, “Please examine this gentleman thoroughly.”
The man in black took one look at the doctor—a man in his thirties with a very honest and simple appearance, clearly not the handsome-as-bright-moon Bright King—and immediately frowned with a question, “Shopkeeper, this isn’t the famous Doctor Bai Mingyue, is it? I heard that Doctor Bai Mingyue is young with exceptional medical skills. My master came here specifically because of his reputation. Please have Doctor Bai Mingyue come to examine my master.”
Bai Jingye’s expression froze.
That anger in his heart surged up again. Mentioning Bai Mingyue filled him with rage that he couldn’t contain.
His tone toward these two changed completely.
“Bai Mingyue is no longer at Jiren Hall.”
“Then where did he go?”
The silent cloaked man finally spoke, his tone icy cold and carrying a dangerous aura.
Bai Jingye’s heart trembled. Without thinking, he told them, “Bai Mingyue has now set up a stall in front of Yu Family Private Kitchen. If you’re looking for him, go to Yu Family Private Kitchen.”
“How do we get to Yu Family Private Kitchen?”
Bai Jingye came to his senses and felt like he was being intimidated by the cloaked man, but the man’s imposing presence made him afraid not to answer. He could only continue, “Go out, turn left, walk for a bit, when you reach the second intersection, turn right, then walk a bit further and you’ll reach Yu Family Private Kitchen.”
